New ThermoChuck System Boosts Throughput With Super-Fast
Cooling Times
Temptronic, an inTEST company, launches the fast-transition TPO3500C.
The 300mm ThermoChuck system cools from +300°C to +25°C in just
15 minutes!
CHERRY HILL, NJ, April 18, 2005
The faster you can get a thermal test system ready for its next test -
in other words, the faster its transition time - the greater your throughput.
That simple fact is clear to anyone involved in thermal testing on the
semiconductor test floor. The faster a thermal chuck can cool for the
next test, the more tests you can conduct per unit time.
That is why the TPO3500C ThermoChuck System from Temptronic is attracting
so much attention, especially on test floors testing at high temperature
(+300°C).
This new high-performance chuck system dramatically cuts cooling times
in thermal tests of 300mm wafers. For example, the tri-axial chuck will
go from +300°C to +25°C in just 15 minutes. In thermal testing
conducted at +200°C, the TPO3500C can be returned down to +25°C
in only 6 minutes. These times are substantially faster than those of
conventional thermal chuck systems, and represent a significant improvement
in throughput potential.
Fast temperature transition is not the only outstanding performance capability
of the TPO3500C. The system also features a wide temperature range, from
+15°C to +300°C standard, with optional low temperature to 0°C.
Temperature stability throughout the testing range is better than ±0.1°C.
Low temperature gradients are another strong point of the system, with
gradients less than ±0.5°C at 200°C and less than ±1.0°C
at 300°C. The system also shows minimal loss of test signal to ground
in triaxial chuck configuration for testing below 40fa.
The TPO3500C establishes a new standard in transition time,
said Ken Cole, Manager of ThermoChuck Products at Temptronic. The
impact of this system on a test-floors throughput will be obvious
and immediate. Time saved by faster cooling can translate directly into
faster tests and increased throughput.
According to Cole, the virtues of the new system go well beyond fast transition
times and its other performance features. The TPO3500C is an extremely
reliable system, with more than 20,000 hours mtbf. And it is also very
flexible; it can be configured for all probing stations in need of thermal
testing capability. It also features a remarkably small footprint, only
2.5 square feet for the entire unit: a real plus on the test floor, where
space often comes at a premium.
With all its performance capability, the new systems price might
come as a surprise. The TPO3500C is priced very competitively,
said Cole, even though it brings a far more attractive feature set
to the test floor than alternative units. And its operating cost is appealing,
too. For example, the TPO3500C requires no special, expensive coolants
to operate. In fact, the system is water-cooled, which keeps operating
cost to an absolute minimum.
Jim Pelrin, General Manager of Temptronic, added that the TPO3500C outstanding
performance is supported by the industrys best service organization.
Temptronic Corporation has a worldwide, industry leading customer
support capability in place for the TPO3500C. No matter where your facility
is located, Temptronic can be on-site fast to keep you up and running.
