Test Head Docking Assemblies
The Docking Assembly (DA) is the piece that mounts to the face of your test head. It consists of a plate with a cutout for the load and/or DUT board(s), guide pins, docking cams, and coarse alignment bushings. The illustration below shows a typical four-point docking assembly, mounted on an ATE test head. The guide pins mate with receptacles in the Docking Gusset Assembly (DGA) that is mounted on the handler or prober. Each guide pin has a screw in the center that, when loosened during the calibration process, allows the pin to move 0.03"in the X and Y directions for exact positioning relative to each other and to the tester electrical interface components. The coarse alignment bushings accept the coarse alignment pins, which are mounted on the DGA. This coarse alignment feature let you get your test head and your peripheral equipment lined up roughly, ready to engage the precision alignment features for your final docking.
